Dish Network Remote DVR Service

In early May of this year, DISH Network announced a new feature that many television providers have had available for awhile now – remote access to your Digital Video Recorder. The DISH Network Remote DVR Service allows subscribers to manage their programming on their DISH Network DVR remotely. Customers can schedule recordings, search through the program guide, even watch recorded programming. You must have a Slingbox connected to your DVR in order to do this. This new service is FREE; simply connect your DISH Network Receiver to your home's High Speed/Broadband connection and you can then use a computer or iPhone to connect to the Internet and manage your DISH ViP DVR. DISH Remote Access service is compatible with the ViP 612 HD DVR, DISH ViP 622, ViP 722k, ViP 722, ViP 922 DVR's. Dishnetwork also announced that later this year they will release the ViP 922 HD DVR which will include all of the above features, but with the Slingbox technology built into the HD-DVR receiver unit. Dish TV bought Sling Media last year, the makers of the Slingbox and so this is a natural evolution of the Sling technology.
